I was born and bred in East London, spending my early working years as a computer operator at a major London bank. By the time that I was twenty, I had joined the last of the ten quid poms and emigrated to Australia where I lived for ten years.
I worked as a car washer, a factory worker, a steelworker and then through a series of chance encounters and whilst studying part-time for a Computer Science degree, I secured work as a computer programmer.
Upon my return to the UK, I lived in London where after working for finance houses such as Citibank and Lehman Bros, I founded an IT consultancy servicing UK businesses as diverse as The Prudential, Mobil Oil, London Electricity, BT and the BBC, and European businesses such as Henkel and Zeneca based in Scandinavia and Switzerland.
Early on in the current millennium, my wife and I sold up our London interests and decamped to Ibiza, where we owned a successful cocktail bar and a holiday lettings business. After eight years we sold both businesses and retired; initially to France and then a few years ago we relocated to Sandwich.
Keen to work in the best interests of the community, I joined the Save The Chimes campaign and subsequently the Town Team. In May 2019, I was honoured to be elected to represent the residents of Sandwich as a town councillor.
I sit on the IT/Social Media committee and the Tourism committee. I am a Council representative on the Town Team and a member of Sandwich Salutes the 40s. I have also honed my gardening skills thanks to my association with Sandwich In Bloom.
