Sandwich Toll Bridge Fund

Sandwich Toll Bridge Fund

Sandwich Toll Bridge Fund was set up in 1973 using the excess Toll Bridge monies collected from the Toll Bridge in Sandwich.

It is a registered charity whose objective is to fund any public works that are specifically aimed at benefiting the Town and its residents.

Sandwich Town Council is the sole trustee of the Toll Bridge Fund. However, Sandwich Town Council and Sandwich Toll Bridge Fund are completely separate legal entities.

Before the fund was registered as a charity £150,000 was spent by Sandwich Borough Council (now Sandwich Town Council) to extend and modernise the Guildhall.

To this day, the Sandwich Toll Bridge Fund continues to fund the upkeep of the Guildhall for the benefit of the residents of Sandwich. It is a non-profit making fund.
