Weekend Overnight Closures

Temporary Weekend Overnight Road Closures – Sandwich Level Crossing, Sandwich – 7,8,15,16,28 & 29 March 2020

Weekend overnight closures of Sandwich Level Crossing are planned for a total of up to 6 nights over 3 weekends.

Closures are planned as follows

8 & 9 March 2020

15 & 16 March 2020

28 & 29 March 2020

Closures are from 1.00 am to 5.00 am per night

Dover Road / New Street will be closed in the vicinity of Sandwich Level Crossing.

The alternative route is via New Street, Harnet Street, Strand Street (plus High Street, The Chain and Galliard Street in opposite direction), Ash Road, A256 Sandwich Bypass, A258 Deal Road and Dover Road.

An alternative route for pedestrians will be signposted on site.

Local access to the remainder of Dover Road / New Street continues from either direction up to where the road is actually closed, but there will be no through access during these works.

The closures are to allow safe vehicular access during construction works at Sandwich Railway Station, being carried out by BAM Nuttall, working with Network Rail.

The works have been timed to be carried out overnight at weekends to reduce their impact.

There is a slight chance that the works may over-run for unforeseen reasons such as adverse weather conditions or engineering difficulties.
