Sandwich Town Council are deeply saddened by the announcement from Buckingham Palace of the passing of our cherished Monarch. After seventy years of faithful service as the longest serving Monarch of our nation, she was a glorious example to us all and will be sadly missed by people all over the world. As one of the founding Cinque Ports, the loss of HM Queen Elizabeth II will be greatly felt by our town and The Confederation. Her enduring commitment and dedication of her entire life to the service of our nation and the Commonwealth was remarkable and unwavering, for which she will forever be remembered.
As a mark of the deepest respect for her Majesty, all meetings and gatherings of the Town Council have been cancelled until further notice.
Floral tributes may be laid on the Guildhall Square and a book of condolence will be available within the Guildhall between 9am and 6pm until 5pm the day after the funeral. Details of Buckingham Palace’s e-book of condolence can be accessed at www.royal.uk
